Gésar Training
Fall Foundation Training, 2006
Fall is the season of the Earth element, and this is the time to establish the ground of our practice. Unless we have a solid foundation, we cannot build a worthwhile structure upon it. The tangible methods taught during this three-day training event represent the indispensable initial introduction to Tactile Responsiveness Training. The priority will be on ensuring that all participants feel and understand the logic and progression of Gésar Training – particularly the core powers of tob-tsal and nam-tsal. This will be accomplished through a series of experiential introductions spanning three days.
Gésar Training encompasses Tactile Responsiveness Training, Warriorship, Equestrianism, and nature of Mind Training. Anyone interested in exploring the rich dimension of Gésar Training is encouraged to attend this seminal event – during which the groundwork for more specific development throughout the coming year will be laid.

| Evening: | Gésar Training – Question and Answer | |
Sunday 3 December |
||
| Morning: | Introduction to the Elements | |
The five elements (earth, water, fire, air, space) are the psycho-physical building blocks of internal and external phenomena. The essential paired dynamic of Tactile Responsiveness Training will be presented as a method of relaxing into the direct texture of the elements – as felt sensations and dimensions of movement. |
||
| Afternoon: | Transforming Conflict into Fluency | |
When faced with physical conflict, our natural instinct is to become tense – thereby distorting our experience of the psycho-physical elements. If instead we learn to work skillfully with the elements themselves, we discover that we can work with the energy of conflict, transforming an aggressive situation into a communicative one. |

| Evening: | Gésar Training – Question and Answer | |
Monday 4 December |
||
| Morning: | Introduction to Silent Sitting Meditation | |
The practice of Dzogchen Sem-dé (series of the nature of Mind) provides a complete experiential framework for understanding how mind functions to delude or delight us. The foundational sitting practice of shi-nè will be presented as a means of discovering experiential emptiness. A brief synopsis of the later stages of sitting meditation practice will illuminate the manner in which spontaneity evolves from disciplined and diligent practice. |
||
| Afternoon: | Introduction to sKu-mNyé | |
The practice of Dzogchen Long-dé (series of vast space) employs sensation as a method of developing confidence in primordial awareness. Five exercises will be taught: a lion, tiger, vulture, eagle, and garuda. These exercises, if practiced regularly, lead to direct experience of the elements – in which inner and outer phenomena are undivided. |
